Re: Introduction... (as I seem to be back ;-)

Welcome Wim!

In all the "kerfuffle" around the transferring of the list to freelists.org, your introduction seems go have been missed. :(

My name is Wim Kuilman, I'm from the Netherlands and I own and use two R-type Leica's (a R4s and a RE), next to those I use two digital camera's (the brands of which I will not mention here, as they are obviously off-topic ;-)

The purpose, as far as I know, is general chit-chat about Leicas, both 'M's and 'R's, their lenses and accessories and the photos taken with them. Many of us show our photos - which can be very rewarding when the praise for a very good one comes in. And it can be hard to handle, when you show a photo and the silence is deafening. But it is a good way for us to improve our photography.

Remember, never send a photo as an attachment. Always post it somewhere on the net (there are lots of free websites for that purpose) and then post the URL on the list.

As far as selling/trading/buying equipment goes, I believe the list asks that you post your desires just once a week. Most of us do it on Fridays - a practice that conforms with other lists.

There is only one no-no. If you have something to sell, please offer it here, to the other members first. If it doesn't sell, by all means put it on *bay. However, if you do this, please do not announce the auction on the list. Those of us who watch the auction sites will find it. The rest of us don't want to know.

You say you have an R4s and an RE. What lenses? It's nice to see another 'R' user here... It seems most of the action is 'M' oriented... but those of us with "modern" cameras tend to stick together! ;-)

Cheers!
