Really interesting numbers, David, thanks.
If I were a betting man, my guess is that the drying up of
processors will contribute to the demise of film as much or more
than the reduction in available films.
Also, the fact that we are an old "codger" group that isn't going to
be around that much longer (Ted excepted, of course) really adds the
catalyst to the doomsday reaction.
A shame, though, that in just a few more generations the image
consuming public will have little ability to appreciate good images.
Oh sure, there'll be a few artists holed up, producing good images
from their dwindling and irreplaceable stocks of silver halide
emulsions and being referred to as that person who uses film,
whatever that is, in those Leica and Hasselblad cameras, whatever
they are/were.
What, me worry?
