Mark, Leica has never claimed that the UV/IR issue does not affect
longer lenses. They recommend using them on all lenses. Further, they
recommend that lenses shorter than 35mm should be 6-bit coded, whereas
with 50mm and longer the coding is really optional.
I have ordered my 2 free UV/IR filters from Leica in larger sizes (46
and 60) and have ordered the two smaller sizes I need (39 and 43) from
Heliopan. Just about half the price of Leica filters, and I cannot
imagine that Heliopan (or B+W for that matter) would be inferior to
Leica.

Some reviewers have said that only short lenses with focal length
below 35mm have problems. That sounded a bit funny. Nathan, your all-
over-the-place color with the 50mm Summilux says that ALL lenses
show the problem.
This makes sense - it's the lack of IR cut in the M8's sensor,
though IR transmission of the lens plays a part.
Anyone used B+W's IR-cut filters, or any other non-Leica brand?
The B+W filters are a bit less expensive than Leica's.
And does a different camera profile make a difference?
There was an early review on luminous-landscape.com describing a fix
with the P30 Flash - Easy Black Profile in Capture One Pro. Did
anyone try this or another profile?

Has anyone had IR color problems - magenta cast with artificial
fabrics,
hot-pink flesh tones - using the M8 with any of these lenses? And
what
did you do to solve them?
21mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M ASPH
35mm f/2 Summicron ASPH
35mm f/2 Summicron (first version with goggles)
50mm f/1.4 Summilux (non-ASPH)
50mm f/1 Noctilux
90mm f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit (2nd version)
135mm f/3.4 APO-Telyt
25mm f/2.8 Zeiss Biogon-T*
25mm f/4 Voigtlander Color-Skopar
28mm f/2.8 Zeiss Biogon-T*
28mm f/2 Voigtlander Ultron
75mm f/2.5 Summarit
75mm f/2.5 Voigtlander Color-Heliar
The first group is lenses I own. The second group is lenses I'm
considering for an M8.
Thanks for any info.
