Hi Sonny
Neither of mine do that, they pop right on when I press the shutter button,
regardless of "time off".
How are the knees ?

I  can't help with your problem, but maybe you can answer  mine....

If I leave the R8 on for a long time, it seems to "go to sleep," and if I
press the shutter part way, it takes a few moments for the display to light
up, and it works fine. Is this correct?
