Harebrained Idea

All:
I have this harebrained idea about having my 400mm Telyt f6.8 (R-mount) lens converted to a "T" mount. In this way, I could use it with any camera I might purchase, in future, including my Leicas. 

Questions:

[1] Has anybody ever tried this?

[2] Can anybody recommend a repairer who could do this at reasonable cost?
