RE: Goodbye Coco

My mother just lost her cat of 18 years, an oddball that she and my father
raised (with a baby bottle) from about 2 weeks old. When my grandfather died
and they started tearing down his house, they found 4 kittens without mother
under the house, covered with ants. She really bonded with this cat and,
when the cat finally had to be put down, my mother collapsed emotionally.
She found some pictures and negs of the cat, and when I fly out to visit her
tomorrow, I'll get them and try to scan the negs into something cleaned up
in PhotoShop.

Oddly enough, sometimes it is harder to handle the loss of a pet because
there were invariably only good times with the critter. They tend to offer
unconditional love and loyalty, and stay perpetually upbeat no matter how
much they are suffering.

Sonny,
We've always had pets, usually cats. And each time we've lost one or it's
time has come we've experienced a grieving no different than if it were
family member. Particularly when it's a pet you've had living with you for
22 years.

So we feel for you and your family at this time of sorrow. It to will pass
and maybe you'll be blessed with another Coco some time down the line. ted &
