Re: Friday Flowers Arose

Lovely, Sonny.

Your care (some cutting back but not severe) will maintain your roses very well - lets the food that is stored up over winter in the roots and canes remain to feed the plant in the spring. Yours will remain much more hardy over time then hers if she is cutting them way back each spring. Her method will deplete the amount of food available to the plant and over time they will decrease in vigor and eventually will need to be replaced as they won't be doing well or putting out many blooms.

Smart guy - you are!

Best,

Ted

I really never do anything to my tea roses except cut them back when they start blocking traffic on the street beside our house.

It was to my amazement yesterday that Adrene, my gardening neighbor
complained that her rose (from the same original cuttings) were not doing nearly as
well as mine. I told her she ought to use the same care plan I do. ;-)
