DEAR RIC,
        This looks like a Passion Fruit flower and the passion fruit we grow
here certainly isn't hollow.  It is filled with an orangey-yellow juice and
lotza seeds.  We extract the juice, add a bit of water and sugar (or
Xylitol) and pour it on ice for a really refreshing, tart Vit C filled
drink.  
        The flowers have one of the most beautiful, exotic scents that I
have ever smelled.

Passionflower--we called them maypops when I was a kid. The fruit was  
hollow so made a great "hand grenade" when popped on striking.
