I agree. I don't care about horsepower or zero-to-sixty in 5.5 seconds. I'd
be content to drive a 35 horsepower ethanol engine if someone would just put
one in a VW Beetle for me.

One reason we have less wildlife is that, before the rise of the commercial 
feed animal and meat industries, Americans hunted a lot of their food (and 
that's if they weren't killing it for sport or in the name of manifest 
destiny). If methane from the bison (buffalo) herds that used to cover the 
country didn't warm things up too much, I doubt the cows will do it either.

Until we all decide to give up beef, we'll have large cattle herds 
(unfortunately). If we do give up steaks, we'll have gas from whatever 
animal replaces cows.

It comes down to a choice. I'd rather reduce vehicle emissions to cut down 
on greenhouse gases and related global warming, and keep the natural gas 
sources. Just roll up the window and hold your nose... :)
