Eye contact

This eastern gray squirrel likes to clean up under my feeder - messy birds spill seed everywhere. This morning he was hanging out on the power line behind my house. I waited for him to look at me:

My EF 400mm f/4 DO IS came back from repair a couple weeks ago. It makes pictures like this almost too easy, and I can use a 1.4X teleconverter as I did here.
In comparison, my backup Leitz 400mm f/6.8 Telyt needs to be manually focused, and shows color fringing on out-of-focus edges. It does have its place though - and it can double as a weapon in a pinch. ;)
