I once did that with white wine. It didn't break the bottle. Instead, it
slowly pushed the cork out, and a long "rope" of slushy wine slurpee
emerged from the neck of the bottle and settled on the bottom of the
freezer as if squeezed from an oversized tube of toothpaste. It was funny
enough that it was worth the cleanup.
Good that both of you saw the humor in it, too. :-)
