When suggesting a Winter solstice challenge Harrison quipped that any
camera would be allowed-- "even a box camera. " As I was culling pix
prior to a move I discovered these, which were taken with a box
camera, a Kodak disposable loaded with Kodak B&W.
The reason I used that was because a Leica M-something I'd brought to
a week-long series of workshops offered by the NY State Professional
Photographers Association decided at that very moment to quit winding
film.
Everybody else had digital gear and my closet full of other cameras
was sitting 4 hours away! Frustrated I bought the dfisp[osable at the
nearest convenience store -- alom ng with quinine water and beer (I
was "proofed" despite gray hair!).
Anyway the local drugstore printed out the 2 dozen pix which were
pretty much OK except for framing errors -- and the fact that the
damn flash would not stop firing! I ended up putting my finger over
the flash lens....
Thought these might amuse as well as inspire people to try box
cameras should they need a break from Leicas .
BTW if you thought Leicaphiles took pictures of each other at their
meetings, see what the pros do on nreaks between lessons on lighting,
posing, PhotoShop etc...
