SOME languages read right to left as do SOME read top to bottom. Since photography roots are in the majority (I believe) where the brain is used to looking from left to right, I stand by what I said. I was taught this at Brooks Institute of Photography nearly fifty years ago and have observed the phenomenon that compositions look best when they run from left to right with a boundary to stop one's eyes and lead them back into the composition. Like reading text on a page, not in Chinese or Hebrew or...! I have done a lot of work for advertizing agencies over the years and what I said is generally what they wanted. Normal accepted western composition. Of course there were times when they didn't follow the rules, but I still got paid, so as long as the customer was happy... :-)

I like most of Steve's work. But if something just doesn't feel right to me, I'm going to say why I feel that way. Everyone may disagree with me, but that's OK too.
