Jim, also, many languages read right to left. I don't think left to right brained habit has as much to do with this picture as does the white and low source main light. It is simply the fact your eye goes to white. Burned out eyeballs from looking at burned out white makes your eyes go to night. Lighting that comes from below the face makes for scary horror shows. Like in when we put a flashlight under our chin in the dark when we were kids.

Composition with the Golden Ratio (1/3 left right top bottom) uses a square as the starting point. 1.618 is the magic number.

This particular image is particularly intriguing in that it is haunting. Now, I'll bet the burned out white could be corrected.
