It's more prone to happen in the close focus range. Not all lenses will respond the same way. Outdoors, I had very bad flare racked out at 250mm and over. Canon finally redesigned the lens with new coatings, and reduced that particular model to 300mm.

This also makes sense.... on the Eiffel Tower, Rose was less than 2 meters away... same with my shots, today. Both made with the 80~200 Vario.

Still, there must be something about the light (angle, intensity, whatever) as well, for until today, only a few shots (in the close focus range) have suffered this problem, though many did this afternoon. Prior to today, it has been a rare occurrence. But it's still not consistent!

Thanks for your input, Slobodan!

Cheers!
