I have been using Extensis Portfolio as an image organizer/database
application. I don't have the newest version which I understand can read
raw files. It has keyword organizing and retrieval, identifies where
you've archived the files and allows natural groupings by client,
subject matter, whatever you chose.
Also, when it comes to rapid editing, renaming, categorizing and even
web gallery construction I've found the File Viewer within Photoshop CS
to be excellent. With it I can view my raw files, cull and organize
them, do batch renaming and then build web galleries to send to my
clients in lieu of contact sheets.

I rarely gush about software, but yesterday I downloaded a 30-day
trial version of ACDSee, a viewer and organizer for images. I was so
impressed with its capabilities that within 2 hours I had decided that
the trial was over and bought the software. Occasionally someone asks
about such things here, and this is the answer. Go to:

and download it from there.
