Unfortunately, it is not in as good shape as it would appear. When a
10 to 12 year old peels back old vulcanite, looking for screws when
he does not know whether they're there or not, he does damage.

Rather sad, actually.... Why did I have to pick on the rare one????
Still, this sort of thing might lower a camera's value, but when the
camera works, and it is one of only two surviving examples, I don't
think I'm going to let it bother me.
Like you, I think it's a great story, and it certainly made my week!
