How did you get so close? Is it an extreme crop?
Interesting closeup of a crossbill - I'm not sure of the species. Probably native to Great Britain, as it doesn't look like
anything I've seen on the U.S. west coast.
I want to see more background around the bird (though I suspect you cropped out some distracting bright sky), and a little more
sharpness.

Hi Mark,
I got out of the car to start a walk and he sat about 10ft from me and didn't move. I grabbed my camera from the back seat,
panicked (of course) and fired off a couple of frames without regard for settings. You are right about the crop, I took some off
to minimise the light background.
Doug Herr called it right. It is a Robin with a deformed bill.
The settings on the camera were RAW, 100 ISO, Aperture Priority (1/30 second @
f3.7)
I thought the zoom was more but the EXIF shows 90mm.
