FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - PLEASE DISSEMINATE WIDELY
The Sprague River gauge in Beatty is currently measuring 9.3'; flood stage is
8.5'. It is forecast to crest at 9.6' Saturday evening and drop below flood
stage Sunday night.
The Incident Management Team, comprised of members from USFS, ODF, BLM, Bly
Fire, Chiloquin Fire, Keno Fire, Fire District 3, the Klamath Tribes, and
Klamath County Emergency Management and Sherriff's Office, continue to monitor
and evaluate structures at risk to flood waters.
High water across roadways has mostly diminished; the runoff causing those
issues yesterday has slowed considerably, thanks in part to cooling
temperatures. However, remember to TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN - especially if you
cannot see the road surface. The area of Drews Road and Multnomah was
underwater last night; as of this morning, the water is mostly gone but it has
eroded the shoulder. Drive with caution in this area, and avoid it if possible.
Sand and sandbags are still available at Chiloquin Fire Station in downtown
Chiloquin, Chiloquin Fire Station 3 on Sprague River Road, Sprague River
Community Center, and Bly Fire Station. Residents who are concerned about flood
waters are encouraged to come pick them up.
Residents with concerns should call their local fire department - for Chiloquin
area, contact 541-783-3860; for Sprague River area, 541-891-8710; for
Beatty/Bly area, 208-921-8590. Residents who need immediate assistance should
call 911.
