The NWS in Medford has issued winter weather advisories and winter storm
warnings for most of Southern Oregon. High levels of snow are forecast Tuesday
AM through Wednesday AM in Klamath County, along with potentially dangerous

Moderate to Heavy Snow tonight in extreme SW Oregon and Siskiyou county, a
brief lull in the action Tuesday morning, then returning and spreading to the
east side Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
Impacts
Tonight into Tuesday Morning
* Hazardous driving conditions due to snow in Southern and Western Josephine
County, Southern Jackson County and most of Siskiyou county tonight into
Tuesday morning.
* Low elevation snowfall will create travel problems across Valleys west of the
Cascades in southern Jackson and Josephine County.
* Wet roads may become icy due to dropping temperatures even after the snow
ends.
* While snow is much more likely to be cleared/melted on the valley floors by
mid to late morning Tuesday, roads in the surrounding hills will like be slower
to melt or be cleared, causing possible difficulties for more rural bus routes.
Tuesday Morning Into Wednesday Morning
* Heavy snow amounts in the Siskiyous, Cascades and east of the Cascades
Tuesday into Wednesday will create travel problems.
* Severe impacts expected on I-5 near Siskiyou Summit and much of Highway 97.
* Will have a better grasp of the Wednesday morning impacts to West Side
Valleys on travel on Tuesday.

* Snowfall accumulations tonight into Tuesday morning: Medium to High
* Snowfall accumulations Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning: Medium to
Low.
* Timing Tuesday morning into Wednesday morning: Medium
Timing and Strength
* Snow levels:
o Will start out at the valley floors through mid Wednesday morning, then rise
above 2500 feet Wednesday afternoon.
* Snow: Tonight through Tuesday morning See attached graphic.
o Southern and western Josephine counties: 1 to 5 inches.
o The Mt. Shasta area and western Siskiyou county: 3 to 6 inches.
* Snow: Late Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. See attached graphic.
o Southern and western Josephine counties: 1 to 3 inches possible.
o Jackson County: 2 to 4 inches possible
o The Mt. Shasta area: 1 to 2 feet possible
o Cascades: 12 to 18 inches possible.
o East of the Cascades: 6 to 12 inches with up to 18 inches possible over the
mountains and passes..
Weather Summary
A deep upper level low center offshore will continue to bring showers
through the region tonight into Tuesday morning, with snow levels to the valley
floors. Another system will swing into the region again Tuesday morning,
spreading moderate to heavy snow from the Cascades and Siskiyou county eastward
into Modoc, Klamath and Lake counties Tuesday into Wednesday morning. There
continues to be a slight chance of freezing rain in the inland west side
valleys Wednesday morning, but confidence in this remains low at this time.
