[kismac] Unsecured access problem

I'm trying to connect to an unsecured network using a zydas USB device. Connection manager shows connected but Safari not connected....Signal v. strong....Checked with Kismac - no encryption. Is mac-filtering blocking? Any suggestions, Thanks....
