First of all, thanks for the great tool, and all the hard work. I love kismac - its a great program. That said, with the latest versions, and Panther, I seem to be having a small problem.

When I run Kismac, I lose the ability to get my IP Address back from the DHCP server. I see the requests coming from the card, but the server's response is ignored by the wireless card.

This might be due to other problems - like WPA, but it was not a problem until I updated Kismac to .11 and ran it, and setup the driver.

Here are the symptoms that I am experiencing.

1) Configure Kismac wireless driver - choose Airport passive mode.
2) Start a scan.
3) quit scan.
4) put machine to sleep.
5) wake from sleep.

Now, you will NOT have an IP address from the DHCP server, you will have a self assigned address. The syslogs on the DHCP server say:

Jun 20 18:09:58 192.168.0.1 udhcpd[15697]: received DISCOVER from 00:30:65:09:de:b4
Jun 20 18:09:59 192.168.0.1 udhcpd[15697]: No valid arp replies for this address (192.168.0.24)
Jun 20 18:09:59 192.168.0.1 udhcpd[15697]: broadcasting OFFER of 192.168.0.24 to 00:30:65:09:de:b4
Jun 20 18:10:06 192.168.0.1 udhcpd[15697]: received DISCOVER from 00:30:65:09:de:b4

So you can see that the card is asking, the server is broadcasting a reply, but the card is never seeing this. I spent quite some time googling this problem, and did not see it anything that is related to kismac.

To fix the problem, uninstall kismac, and reinstall the airport 3.3 software. Once you do this, everything is fine.

Has anyone else seen problems like this?

Thanks

David Buttrick
