FYI, looks like the problem may be specific to Cisco access points.

From the release notes of Cisco IOS Release 12.2(15)XR back
through 12.2(13)JA:

        CSCec73044—When WPA is configured on the access point,
        associated client devices occasionally report MIC failures
        on packets from the access point.
