        Weird.  Now I get a lockup (and spinning beachball) just by 
letting the program run for a few minutes.  I did a ktrace on the 
process, and the output from kdump seems to indicate that the program

        Is there anything else I can do to help debug this process?  I 
can attach to the process with gdb, but I don't really know what I'm 
doing with it or how to use it to get any useful information.  I 
don't even know how to get it to generate a coredump.
