I'm using a Pismo G3 with an eTrex Vista via the Keyspan USB/Serial 
adapter.  This seems to work fine for me, though I sometimes need to 
use voodoo skills to get the GPS recognized.  Plugging the USB cable in 
while the machine is asleep, then waking up seems to help.
