It sounds like you have an intel mac. Intel macs cannot sniff
passively at the moment. Only active scanning can be done with them.
I would look into getting this device http://kismac.de/_trac/wiki/DWL-
G122 or another device that will passively scan in kismac. Others can
be found here http://kismac.de/_trac/wiki/Hardware%20List

I can't get any IVs. I'm at 250,000 packets, but I don't seem to
pick any up. Airport Extreme Card...
Are they important to crack a network, or does it work without
them? Sorry, N00B question, I'm sure.

Thanks Bug Dave,
This seems to work better, but I still quite often have problems
changing channel during a scan, when Kismac stops responding and I
have to Force Quit....Packet reinjection appears to be working -
sometimes the IVs increase other times nothing, during reinjection.

John, in order to answer we need to know some stuff. like what
version of kismac, what type of machine are you on, etc. Try to
include everything you think of that might help someone answer.

Hello,
Been using Kismac for a while. Been successful at
capturing packets, but not
cracking. Have tried weak scheduling attack - seems to take
a very long time
- is that normal? Wordlist attack - I'm using the
dictionary from wepattack
(any other suggestions), hasn't worked for me yet. An
attack on the Apple
key leads to Kismac quitting....
Any advice pl.
