Thanks, Chris, for that pointer. The USB-only Delorme Tripmate isn't going to be easy to bridge over, since they have chosen a chipset for which there are no mac/linux drivers to simulate a serial device. A couple of the other usb-only gps units DO use chipsets that have drivers (wish I had researched this in more detail...), so I doubt if it is impossible to do, they just don't have the inclination or resources, I guess. The Mac OS X "sees" the delorme as a USB device, and I wondered if someone knew about writing USB drivers were to poke at it they could extract the gps information in it's "native" mode rather than as a pseudo-serial device. But that is WAY outside my expertise. If anyone thinks they can do this... let's talk -- I have a tripmate they can borrow to test! ...r On Friday, June 20, 2003, at 07:37 AM, Chris Osborn wrote: > http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF- > 8&threadm=3EE6415A.CD29EA78%40jpl.nasa.gov&rnum=1&prev=/ > groups%3Fq%3Dearthmate%2Busb%2Bos%2Bx%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF- > 8%26sa%3DN%26tab%3Dwg
