Hi! In NE, Pennsylvania I have had mildly autistic children included in the
regular classroom. I also had one homeschooled child come for snack twice a
week and storytime to socially integrate him into the classroom. We also
have an autistic classroom for those children who cannot function in a
regular class.
Some of the students who are included, also have an enabler(aide) with them
depending upon the child's needs or his or her parents wants!

I have not had children in my classroom with autism, however, in our
school they are included in the regular program and they are each
assigned an individual adult aide to assist them in the classroom.

I was wondering how many 'out there' have programs designed to include
children with autism within their pre-school/kindergarten programs. I
work in a public school and we have a program for our children with
autism which utilizes ABA techniques within the full day with the
student attending the preschool program and receiving one on one
specialized programs the other half of the day. I would be interested
how others address this particular special need.
