I am a parent in central Minnesota. our local school district did not, no "if's and's or but's" provide ABA in Early Intervention programs or grade school. it was completely unobtainable through our insurance, too. my son was dx'd at age 3 with severe autism, and has progressed well without any form of formal ABA. we do RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) _http://www.rdiconnect.com/RDI/WhyRDI.asp_ (http://www.rdiconnect.com/RDI/WhyRDI.asp) _http://www.factfamily.org/rdi.html_ (http://www.factfamily.org/rdi.html) in Early Intervention (all states refer to their programs differently) my son was in a self contained pre K for 2 days a week, and an inclusion pre K for 2 days a week w/ special ed supports. my son is in Kindergarten, inclusion within a Public Charter School not specific to disabilities. their special ed is better than our local school district and they accommodate his needs within his IEP very well and is also provided a Para. out of working with two different schools, neither provides ABA techniques, but the Charter School does focus on social structure and 1:1 / 1:2 and 3 peer relationship strategies. sandy In a message dated 4/5/2006 5:56:57 A.M. I work in a public school and we have a program for our children with autism which utilizes ABA techniques within the full day with the student attending the preschool program and receiving one on one specialized programs the other half of the day. I would be interested how others address this particular special need.
