At Kathleen Elementary in Lakeland, Fl, we have our Autistic children in a full inclusion model. The Pre-k students have support throughout the day. The kindergartener has para support for about 3 hours during the day. As the teacher in this class, I can tell you more support is needed. He has been very successful this year and has met the standards for promotion. However, this would not have been accomplished without continuous support from home. I work in a public school and we have a program for our children with autism which utilizes ABA techniques within the full day with the student attending the preschool program and receiving one on one specialized programs the other half of the day. I would be interested how others address this particular special need. Beverly in Massachusetts, USA
