[Kindersite Newsletter] The Kindersite Newsletter has moved to a Listserv

As many of you are aware the Kindersite has been undergoing problems with our web hosts. One of the ways I can avoid any problems is by moving the Kindersite newsletter to an alternative host. I have now completed this move and thank ‘FreeLists’ for accepting the Kindersite.

Having a Listserv will allow you to actually engage in discussions about the Kindersite, how you use the resource, what content you use, etc etc. All posts will be moderated to ensure that the core subject is adhered to and unnecessary and off-core posts are denied.

Additional features will allow you to unsubscribe, set to a digest mode (only one message a day), or set vacation mode. ( Unsubscribe details are available at the bottom of this message).

I hope that minimal problems will be encountered in the move, if there are problems then information is available on the FreeLists website at http://www.freelists.org/index.html . If all else fails, please feel free to write to me, please understand I am new to this too.

Kindersite News

I would like to thank the many, many, users who have been so kind as to respond to my request to complete the Survey of users, so many that it is impossible to send an individual, personal, thank you, as I would wish to do.

The survey is still available on the Kindersite. I will place some results on the Kindersite as soon as possible. There is some interesting information that has come to light. For example, 23% of responders are using the Kindersite in Special Needs situations. This then raises the question; does the Kindersite content have any therapeutic or measurable value? Only a full research project can answer this question, anybody interested???.

I have started to add some voice navigation to the Kindersite to help young children and beginners in English. I would like to take this further but worry about the size of the resulting web page, any computer geniuses out there that can help? I will also share a secret with you; the voices are my young daughters and their friends, thank you to them.

The Kindersite has been selected as Finalists in the Education category of the 2006 Stockholm Challenge, there is information on the Kindersite about the Challenge.

That is enough for now. I hope the new format will work for us all without any serious problems, so please continue to enjoy the Kindersite.
