Effective this Sunday 9/22/02 the FAA will make a definite change in their
daily ops in preparation for the Vint Hill Tracon move early next year. The
present Tower personnel will be divided into two separate units - one TRACON
Team and one Tower Team. The team personnel will not swap out positions but
be exclusively dedicated to working the "screens in radar" or "pushing planes
from the Tower." In Feb 2003, the TRACON crew will relocate to Vint Hill
Farm TRACON in Va for the long planned combining of the BWI, ADW, IAD, DCA,
and HEF tracon personnel. Nothing will change for top Mgrs at FAA locally -
DS, JS, BS or BL, will still retain FAA mgmt control. Expect new additional
supervisors coming on board to be TRACON or TOWER Duty Supervisors. In the
past the Duty Supervisor has traditionally been in the Tracon for both Twr &
TRACON. Be flexible!
