[JYO] U.S. airspace to reopen at 15Z

9/13/01 8:16:41 AM — The FAA has confirmed to AOPA that U.S. airspace will
reopen to all flight operations at 15Z (11:00 a.m. EDT). VFR flights may
proceed without a discrete transponder code. However, all airports may not be
open. Airports with air carrier service are closed until they satisfy
enhanced security requirements. Be sure to check notams. AOPA's airport staff
and ASN volunteers are now checking to confirm the status of general aviation
airports. Pilots are also encouraged to call 1-800-USA-AOPA to report the
status of their airport.

Traffic at the major air carrier airports may be very heavy once they reopen.
Pilots are advised to use satellite and general aviation airports.
