Please invite the pilots to register their e-mail addresses to receive
information on upcoming safety seminars, NOTAMS, and events in the district
from the Washington FSDO.  As far as NOTAMS, this office should not be the
sole source of information as no formal dissemination process has been
established.  The FSS is the formal information dissemination point for the
FAA.  Therefore, I do not recommend that ours become the sole information
source on NOTAMS.

Regards and keep up the good work,
Karen

Please include the following in your next e-mail to the Leesburg Pilots
list:

You are encouraged to register your e-mail address with the Washington
Flight Standards District Office to receive information on upcoming safety
seminars, events and other timely information at
http://aea.faa.gov/aea200/ea27.   A click on the registration logo will
take you the page that permits you to enter your address and to check the
block for information best applies i.e. pilot, mechanic, lighter-than-air,
glider, etc.  You will not receive duplicate messages should you register
your e-mail more than once, and all addresses are held on the FAA LAN
server at region and are not released outside the FAA. Information
dissemination by e-mail is the way of the future, and is inline with
government's efforts to reduce paperwork.  Flyers are sent out on a funds
available basis, but the CR has not been settled, and it may be some time
before the faucet is 'turned on'.  In the meantime, you will be advised of
this, and other timely information by e-mail.  On the same website, you can
participate in a Wings accredited training program on-line by selecting one
of the three general aviation ground training on-line seminars on the
'E-Training' link.  So far, nearly 40 people have successfully
transitioned.

We thank you for your consideration and participation, and encourage you to
support general aviation safety and spread the word.  Tell anyone you know
in aviation about our website (http://aea.faa.gov/aea200/ea27) and the link
to the local FAA district office will be set.
