RED ALERT!
Friends of Suburban Airpark -
Our neighbors in MD City are on Red Alert to oppose a developer's
bulldozing of W18. Ray Smallwood (Pres. MD City Civic Association),
and John Venit (Pres. Brock Bridge Estates HOA) contacted me, looking
for help and involvement from the region's Pilots.
We've been asked to:
1) Attend a Rally - Wednesday, Jan 28th at 7:30 PM
2) Show-up at the County Council Meeting - Feb 2nd
Our efforts to-date have defied the odds, but the developer is making
a last-minute push. If there was ever a time to act to save W18, ITS
NOW!
RALLY
MD City is holding a Rally against Polm's "Riverwood" Development at
the W18 site. They are asking for the Pilots to participate, and be in
attendance. Their hope is to get a few hundred people assembled on
short notice, and get attention focused on the community. W18 and the
region's Pilots are an accepted part of that community!
The press will be present. This is an outstanding opportunity for the
Pilots and Community to showunity against Polm's plan to close
Suburban Airpark!
The Rally is:
Wednesday, Jan 28th at 7:30 PM
Maryland City Firehouse
(North side of 198, East of Brock Bridge Rd)
3498 Fort Meade Road
Laurel, MD
This might be our best shot at showing community unity, and support
for keeping W18 an airpark. This is also a chance for us to cement our
good relationship with our neighbors.
COUNTY COUNCIL
Polm needs the Anne Arundel County Council to vote on Feb 2nd for
upzoning W18 to make it worthy of his bulldozer.
To this end, Polm will reportedly try to pack the Feb 2nd County
Council meeting with his own supporters (mostly paid employees and
sub-contractors), and will do this to the extent of fire-codes,
locking out the residents.
To blunt this, we need to show up early at the County Council Meeting:
Monday, February 2nd - (try to arrive before 6:00PM), meeting
at 7PM
Arundel Center - 1st Floor Council Chambers
44 Calvert Street
Annapolis, MD 21401
Council Office 410-222-1401
Directions:
Rt 50 Eastto Bestagate/Rowe Blvd Exit
Bear Right off of Exit - Rowe Blvd
Pass Stadium and Cross Bridge
Bear Right onto Calvert
Arundel Center and Parking Garage on Left
Spread the word! Bring a Friend! Thank You!
