TSA has advised us of an interesting change in SFAR 94. Once the new
version takes effect this Sunday, the prohibition on transient aircraft
is gone. Also gone is the requirement that aircraft operating to/from
the DC3 be based at one of the DC3. Pilots will still have to be
vetted, but they will not have to be tied to one of the airports by a
lease/club/training arrangement in order to do so.
They tell me the rule will be published tomorrow, and AOPA should have
something on it too.
For those of you who used to use the maintenance shops at Hyde but quit
after all the security nonsense came along, this means you can get a PIN
and run in and out as you please.
A small step, but progress nonetheless.
