[JYO] Revised nuclear notam expected today

Revised nuclear notam expected today
Relocation plan also in the works
11/1/01 9:37:12 AM ET — AOPA expects that FAA will issue a revised notam
establishing temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) over nuclear facilities
sometime this morning. That notam is anticipated to reopen Charlotte/Douglas
International Airport in North Carolina, Albuquerque International Sunport in
New Mexico, and airports in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. AOPA has also
learned that three additional nuclear sites will likely be removed from the
notam, thereby opening more airports.

FAA is also working on a relocation plan to move trapped aircraft out of the
closed airports. Some relocations may begin as early as this afternoon from a
limited number of airports.

Meanwhile, AOPA continues to work with FAA to correct errors in FAA's

closed airports</A>. There are also errors in the location of
some of the nuclear sites in FAA's data. With the help of AOPA member
reports, AOPA is also verifying that location data supplied to ensure that
the nuclear sites are correctly plotted on the online Jeppesen charts.
