[JYO] Police Update of man with rifle at the Leesburg Airport...

Mr. Levine,

As requested,

Background: The Leesburg Police Department received a call on Sunday, Sept. 15,
2002 at approximately 1846 hours in regards to a suspicious vehicle described
as a blue Toyota in the area of Hanger 3 at the airport. Apparently the vehicle
had been at the aforementioned location since 0800 hours that morning. Upon
arrival Officer Jennings and Campbell located the suspect vehicle which
actually was a blue 1986 Mazda ( Virginia Registration JAW-2491) occupied by a
B/M identified as Broadus Mitchell Henson, age 43, of the 100 block of
Lanksford Drive in Charlottesville, Virginia. Mr.. Henson stated he was just
watching the airplane activity at the airport and he further stated he was on
his way to Pennsylvania. Mr.. Henson agreed to a consent search of the vehicle
and subsequently a fully loaded .30 caliber carbine was located concealed
illegally under the seat. In addition, a second weapon was located in the trunk
that was legally stored.

Mr. Henson was arrested for Possession of a Concealed Weapon, he was later
released by the Magistrate on a $5,000.00 bond.

Current: The charge of Possession of a Concealed Weapon against Mr. Henson has
not been adjudicated at this time.
