[JYO] One last Concorde lands

One last Concorde lands
From correspondents in Chantilly, Virginia
October 15, 2003

FOR the last time, a sleek white Concorde slid through the skies over the
suburbs of the US capital today.

The supersonic plane was greeted with a water cannon salute when it landed at
Washington Dulles International Airport as part of a British Airways farewell
tour.
"It is wonderful. I never thought I would ever do it, and I did it, and I'm
just like a child 7 years old on Christmas Eve," white-haired Rita Woods of
Colonial Beach, Virginia, said.
Flights on the Concorde generally start at $6500 one way, and Woods said she
would be "eating a lot of peanut butter" to make up for what she spent.
The Concorde's last trans-Atlantic flight will be October 24, from New York
City back to London.
