Last night, Dave Pearce (FAA Designated Examiner) spoke to the Leesburg
Airport Comission and announced that he has recently been appointed by the
FAA as some new "safety czar" at Leesburg. Dave made a similar announcement
on the DCPilots website not long ago as well.
We are ALL on the same page regarding safety. We all want safe flying and
operations. During David's presentation last night he again rekindled his
argument about a 45 degree entry and how some at Leesburg (myself included)
don't make a 45 degree entry 100% of the time and are therefore dangerous
pilots.
So, since he presented his case.. and announced his newly appointed position
by the FAA, I simply asked him, what was the title of his position, who
appointed him, what were the details of the appointment, etc.
This is the communication:
Flyboy Ed [4:16 PM]: My FAA contacts know nothing about you being appointed
as any such "safety" guru for JYO. I am still waiting for response from the
FSDO, etc. If there is no such appointment, I will make that clear at the
next meeting and will allow you to explain yourself in front of the group.
Maybe I misunderstood what you had said.
PPipercub [4:21 PM]: Frankly Ed. As you represent no one,, I object to your
interference.. Your appointment by the AOPA has outlived your usefulness as
you are inteerfering with the FAA safety procedures and now this. I have
affiliated with the AOPA for 30 years and my concerns will be heard. You are
a pain in the ass, a dangerous pilot in my mind and a poor representative of
the AOPA. Mind your own business. Thanks, and we will get along. d
