WASHINGTON -- NBC News has learned that the federal government is ready to
reopen Reagan National Airport to general aviation.
The airport has been closed to most private planes since Sept. 11, 2001.
There will be some strict security rules:
All flights will have to land at a nearby regional airport for screening
before coming to National Airport.
Only charter and corporate flights will be allowed.
Every flight will have to have a law enforcement officer on board.
The announcement will be made Wednesday.
It is unclear when the flights will begin.
