[JYO] Leesburg Executive Airport - Your Support Was Great

Team:

Thanks to the support of local pilots, homeowners, and business people, the
Loudoun County Board of Supervisors got the message loud and clear tonight
that the residential component of the Crosstrails proposal is incompatible
with
the airport. It was clear from the post-hearing comments that the
application will not pass without significant changes.

We look forward to working with the Board in the coming weeks on these
issues. In the airport's view, the application remains a good prospect for
commercial applications, as long as the developer is willing to rework the
residential component.

A special thanks to Don Robb and Bob Hepp for turning out themselves and
their employees, the Leesburg Condo Association, several, several JYO-based
pilots, our AOPA Support Network rep Jim Firmani, Airport Director Tim Deike,
and
the majority of the Airport Commission for spending a whole bunch of hours
at the hearing. Kudos also to the Leesburg Town Council, who came 'en masse'
after adjourning their regularly scheduled meeting at Town Hall very early.

There were over fifty speakers (not counting the staff, the applicant, and
the Leesburg Town Council) and less than a handful spoke in favor of the
application. A few folks spoke in protest of the Town's non-resident water
rates.
The rest spoke in opposition to the application, fairly evenly split between
pilots concerned about the airport and local residents concerned about
traffic and utilities.

Thanks again,

Dennis
