Hey, folks............
Remember last year when the developers tried to build more than a thousand
houses next to the runway, and the Board of Supervisors said no? The newly
elected Board of Supervisors has now initiated, of their own accord, an
'upzoning' of that property between the runway and the Greenway. This action,
changing the zoning from residential to PD-IP (Planned Development-Industrial
Park) will effectively kill any future attempt at residential encroachment from
that side. The contemplated action is fully compatible with the airport, and
is supported by all concerned with the field.
Since nearly a hundred of you wrote letters or spoke in opposition to the
previous plan, it would be good if a couple of us would show and speak in
support of the new plan. The new Board of Supervisors is taking an action that
is nearly unprecedented in everyone's memory, so they could use some positive
feedback.
The public hearing in front of the Planning Commission will be the 17th of
July, starting at 6 PM, at the County building at 1 Harrison Street, Leesburg.
There will be one more public hearing (in front of the full board), so
attendance at this meeting isn't critical, but it would be helpful.
If anyone wants to read the actual notice, drop me a line.
Thanks,
Dennis
Dennis B. Boykin IV
Chairman
Leesburg Executive Airport Commission
