There is an important Public Hearing being held on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:30
pm. in the Leesburg Town Hall to hear input about the
developer-initiated proposals in the area surrounding Leesburg's airport.
Specifically, the Town Council is soliciting public input to put together their
response to Loudoun County regarding Creekside LLC's application to 'swap'
Phil Bolen Park with land owned by the developer. In return for the swap, the
developer is offering to build the park at his expense, and is offering some
amount (in the millions of dollars) of road construction.
The Airport Commission firmly opposes this land swap, as it puts thousands
of houses directly across the street from the south end of the runway. The
developer was completely unaware of the traffic pattern at Leesburg, and was
unaware that Leesburg intends to extend the runway another 500' south in just
a
few years.
Anyone interested in speaking their piece is invited. I'm going to be there
to voice my opposition to further residential encroachment; I hope you are
too.
Thanks,
Dennis Boykin
