[JYO] Leesburg Airspace

I just got off the phone with Thomas R. Davidson, the Air Traffic Customer
Advocate at the FAA to find out how Leesburg can enter the airspace waiver
process as did a few airports in NY did.

Mr. Davidson explained that he is the advocate of the pilot and is working
hard to open up the airspace. He said the NY waivers were a test (and were
not even supposed to be publicized). They were to make sure that the CAP
could monitor multiple discreet beacon codes without problem or issue.

This test is supposed to wrap up late Thursday with results of the test
available to the advisors and NSC on Friday.

Two things could happen:
1. The Airspace over JYO might return to NORMAL Class B even before the end
of the week
2. If number the airspace does not return to normal and the NY discreet
beacon code test works in NY, then we might get a discreet beacon code for
JYO as early as next week.

Thomas Davidson is a National Advocate and put me in touch with Carmine Galo.
Mr. Galo is working the Washington, DC airspace issues.

When I hear further information, I will post it to the list.

Thanks,

Ed
