[JYO] Last chance to fly in to Bader

Last chance to fly in to Bader
Next week may be one of your last chances to attend an aviation event by
flying into New Jersey's Bader Field before the airport closes. Atlantic City's

Thunder Over the Boardwalk Airshow â featuring the Air Force Thunderbirds,
Navy Blue Angels, and other performers â will take place on Wednesday,
August
23, and there will be shuttle service for pilots to and from Bader. AOPA had
fought long and hard with the state of New Jersey and three successive
Atlantic
City administrations to save Bader, but sadly, there was little local
interest in the airport. Bader is slated for closure in September. What
remains is
a prevailing anti-general aviation attitude in Atlantic City. Even though two
of the most popular AOPA Expos in recent memory have been held in Atlantic
City, AOPA decided not to return there in 2007 because officials at Atlantic
City International Airport didn't want to be bothered by GA aircraft, and they
wanted to charge an exorbitant amount to pay for normal airport operations.
AOPA Expo 2007 will be in Hartford, Connecticut. Pilots flying into Bader
should be aware of temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) that will encompass
the
airport, beginning on Sunday and continuing through Wednesday. Pilots will be
able to fly in to the airport when the TFRs are not in effect. See the
_FAA's Web site_ (http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_6_6444.html) for TFR
information. For airshow information, see _www.atlanticcityairshow.com_
(http://www.atlanticcityairshow.com/) .
