This is your FINAL CHANCE to let the State Corporation Commission know that
we DO NOT want a Power Plant in Leesburg!!!

The public hearing is scheduled for September 6th at 2 and 7pm in the Board
Conference Room at 1 Harrison St., Leesburg, VA
Moms and Dads: Bring your kids at 2 and let the SCC see whom they will be
affecting with their decision! The SCC examiner recently ruled not to wait
until the zoning issues are resolved. However, their staff reported
'significant local and municipal opposition' as one reason for denying the
application. Our best hope is to fill the Boardroom with speakers and bodies
to let the state hearing examiner see and hear our opposition and pass the
same recommendation of denial to the commission.

Talking points:
1. The area surrounding Leesburg has changed dramatically over the last ten
years with thousands of homes, 5 schools, and new parks within a few mile
radius of the site.
2. How do you think a power plant will look as an entrance to the town? It
may possibly affect our tourism!
3. A power plant may negatively affect your ability to sell your home and
decrease property values.
4. The particulate matter (soot) will fall closest to the site. Particulate
matter has been linked to respiratory illness and premature deaths.
5. Will Virginia experience California style blackouts? No! According to
Dominion Power, Virginia has a 12% surplus of electricity. There are
currently 20 projects with over 11,800 mw of generating power being proposed
now in Virginia.
6. We believe that power plants should be responsibly sited in brownfields
(established industrial sites).

Please help our last effort to stop Tractebel from turning our area into an
industrial brownfield!
