[JYO] Help tell the FAA what needs to be written more plainly

Hi everyone.  I'm a pilot whose job happens to be helping to lead the Web
site for a federal agency.  In that role, I know the webmaster for the FAA.
She's asked me to help them figure out what pilots most need rewritten in
plain language.  Here's her request in her words:

> FAA has a plain language initiative. We'd like to know from the public,
and especially pilots, which FAA
> documents are your top priorities to be revised in plain language.

Rather than flood her with a huge barrage, I'd like to offer to collect all
of your thoughts.  I won't censor anything;  I just want to collate it for
her.

You can see how wide open her request is - anything and everything goes.  I
already told her, with great emphasis, what a total disaster the NOTAM
system is (starting with their being in all caps and ending with their
convoluted construction and very vague descriptions).  Especially with the
security situation today, it's critical that the FAA do a better job of
telling us what they want.

Feel free to mention NOTAMs again, or some specific aspect of them;  I just
wanted you to know how that she was very interested to hear that as a first
idea.

She's very committed to this, and genuinely wants to make the FAA Web site
as good as it can possibly be.  She can't promise instantaneous results, but
believe me, she'll pay very close attention to what we tell her, and work as
many miracles as possible.

So - please email me your ideas.  My email address is
jeffrey_at_cliffclimber.com (replace "_at_" with the @ symbol;  just trying
to prevent robots from grabbing my address).  As I said, I'll include every
idea;  I'll just collate them.

Thanks!

Jeffrey
