Next week, AOPA will be providing testimony to the US Congress on the impact
of this tragedy on the general aviation industry. In preparation, we are
seeking your feedback. We will also use the information we receive from you
to continue our lobbying effort on the National Security Council to lift the
grounding on VFR operations.
We would appreciate hearing from you, VERY SPECIFICALLY, how the grounding of
GA operations is affecting your airport - e.g. xxx number of layoffs, FBO
closing his/her doors, businesses losing xx in revenue every week and so on.
It is very important that the items we receive can be quantified - much like
the airlines have indicated they will lose $300 million/day. We've received
1 report that the a privately owned airport is now up for sale due to the
loss of revenue. These are the types of examples we are looking for so that
Phil can demonstrate to members of Congress how these events are having a
devasting effect on our industry.
Please be brief and to the point.
Example:
Joe's Aerial Photo Business.. Normally $500/day x 9 days = $4500 lost
Joe Smith, Owner - Leesburg Airport - 703-555-1234 joesmith@xxxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks,
Ed
