[JYO] GA pilots required for research on surface painted markings

GA pilots required for research on surface painted markings

The MITRE Corporation Center for Advanced Aviation System
Development (CAASD)
McLean, Virginia

As part of the FAA Runway Safety initiative, the Center for Advanced Aviation
System Development at the MITRE Corporation is conducting a series of cockpit
simulations evaluating proposed changes to the current holding position
marking standard. The simulations are intended to determine if a pilot's
awareness of the runway environment is enhanced by the proposed marking
concepts. Adoption of the proposed changes to the current marking standard
may decrease the number of runway incursions.

The simulations will be conducted from October 29 through November 22 and
require 13 pilots. The simulation environment consists of a mid-fidelity,
generic cockpit with a visual scene. The evaluation will consist of a series
of airport surface scenarios in which the pilot will appraise the proposed
marking concepts. Two pilots will be scheduled per day (8:00AM -11:00AM &
12:00PM - 3:00PM) during the evaluation period. MITRE will provide $100
compensation for each pilot's participation.

For more information, or if you would like to participate please forward your
GA qualifications, including current aircraft type, and any additional type
ratings, to:
